S.S.L.D. IS A SMOKE FREE ENVIRONMENT.
Please refrain from using any tobacco product anywhere on the premises.
Parents are responsible for providing diapers, wipes, powders, and/or creams to be used with their child.
"Quiet Time" is after lunch. ALL children are expected to respect this "quiet time." Sleeping is not required, but children will be required to lay quietly until nap time is over. Parents are discouraged from visiting during nap time unless the child is being picked up for the day.
In keeping with the Temple ISD and area daycares, we are closed on all the Federal holidays and the week of Spring Break.
The following is a list of observed holidays when Shooting Star Learning Daycare will be closed.
Martin Luther King Jr Birthday
Spring Break (1 week)
While Shooting Star Learning Daycare is not open for these days of care, it is expected the Provider will receive payment for the holiday. All arrangements for payment must be made prior to the holiday.
It will be the responsibility of the parent to secure care on these days.
Shooting Star Learning Daycare will be closed for 1 week vacation each year, usually in September. This allows us to "recharge our batteries" and helps us to continue to provide the highest level of care. Although the daycare will not be open during vacation, payment is still expected to retain each childs position in the program. We will notify at the beginning of the year when we will be closed for vacation so that other arrangements can be made, however payment will be required the Friday before and the Monday after the vacation week.
WELL CHILD POLICY
This daycare can only accept children in GOOD HEALTH.
No cold medication or fever-reducing medication of any type may be in the child's system upon arrival.
We will not administer "over the counter" medication.
If possible, precsription medication should be given at home.
If child is administered antibiotics for ANY reason, they must remain home for first 24 hours of administration.
CHLD MUST BE PICKED UP AND/OR KEPT HOME WHEN THEY EXHIBIT:
- Temperature of 100.4 or higher
- Diarrhea (any loose stool, including one that exceeds capacity of diaper)
- Excessive runny nose (requires wiping 4 or more times in one hour)
- Escessive cough (prolonged bouts of coughing 4 or more times in one hour
- Excessive discomfort (child won't stop crying, is irritable, wants to sleep a lot, or wants to be held a lot)
- ANY drainage from eyes or ears
- Rash (ANY except diaper rash)
CHILD MUST BE SYMPTOM FREE FOR 24 HOURS BEFORE RETURN.
Even when the child is not in care due to illness, it is expected that Provider will be paid for days missed. This allows Shooting Star Learning Daycare to remain within ratio by keeping the spot open for the child. If there is an extended illness, then an agreement must be made between Parent and Provider.
Parent must sign and fill out "Authorization For Dispensing Medication" form and include times for caregiver to administer each medication according to label directions. The medication must be in the original container labeled with the child's full name, and the date brought to Shooting Star Learning Daycare. Medication will be administered in amounts according to label directions, or as amended by a physician. Medication will only be administered to the child for whom it is intended and will not be administered after expiration date.
In the event of an accident or medical emergency, we will immediately contact one or both of the parents. If necessary, we will also immediately call 911. If the parent cannot be reached, we will act in their best interests and in the interest of the child. After any immediate emergency is past, we will fill out an incident/accident report. This will be kept in our files.
RELEASE OF CHILD/CHILDREN
Each child will be signed in as they arrive for the day. If a person other than the person that signed them in picks them up, identification will be required and their name must already be on the admission form. We will refuse to release the child to anyone who is not listed on the admission form and who does not present proper identification.
Parents are encouraged to drop in any time to visit their child/children. However, visitation during quiet time/nap time is discouraged because it is disruptive. Please do not stop in during this time unless you are picking your child up for the day.
BRINGING TOYS FROM HOME
We request that no toys be brought from home. If each little one brings 2 toys, that adds up to 24 toys to keep up with each day. Please do not bring toys, small cars, coins, or any other little items from home. Not only are they a challenge to keep up with, they may also violate the minimum standards for our facility because of their size.
Our hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
It has been our experience that it is necessary to enforce fees for late pick up of children. This is in the interest of fairness to all parents and to facilitate a firm time of closure for the day.
Fees are as follows:
$1.00 per minute every minute after 6:00p.m.
All fees will be charged according to the Daycare clock over the sign in sheet.
All fees will be due the same day as late pick up.
No further childcare will be provided until fees are paid.
Payday is on Friday for the following week or weeks. Payments can be made weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
There is a late fee of $10.00 per day for each day that payment is late, up to 30 days.
Payment is due by 6:00 p.m. on Friday. At 6:01 p.m., payment is late and late fees will accrue.
Children may not attend the daycare unless full payment, plus all late fees, have been paid up to date. We do not accept payment over the weekends; therefore, if payment is not made on Friday, the late fees due will be a total of $30.00 on the following Monday morning and thereafter, $10.00 per day.
